[Yay to Nuffnang!]
The movie was not due to be out until the 1st of November but me and Miss Ave T was lucky enough to score premier ticket passes thanks to the good people of Nuffnang to catch the much hyped movie earlier than everyone else.
Warning folks, there will be spoilers in this review.
[Bond. James Bond. and he is back!]
With this installment, I believe that the direction that the movie was going was to make Bond more, well, human. Despite the suave exterior and killer espionage skills, the movie showed that even 007 can get effected with age, just like the rest of us. In light of the 50 years anniversary of the series, the movie did include A LOT of references that would make any true blue Bond fan squeal with delight.
The plot follows James Bond being riddled with fatigue and his habits which hinders him to be the best that MI6 has to offer. In a act of retaliation, MI6 has now come under threat by a foe that lies within the shadows and knows every step they take and every thought that is made. With a volatile threat that questions the need and existence of MI6, the one person that can find and stop the threat is no longer there. It then falls to James to find himself within him to save the day, even if it was to uncover dark secrets which lies in his past.
So, as per usual, below are my reviews to the movie:
Would I watch it again? : I would but not in the movies. Would watch it again just to find the fine details of the movie. And censored scenes from the movie. :P
Movie or DVD worthy? : Definitely movie worthy. The entire movie was filled with action packed moves which really makes you stay put on your seat. And the last thing you want is to miss the iconic Bond theme song on Dolby surround.
Plot : Certain parts of the movie did break a lot of the norm that you find within Bond movie plots but seriously, they did it tastefully. I was slightly disappointed with how they introduce the main antagonist in the movie but the final build up to the plot was excellent.
Star Power : Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench makes their return in the series but they also introduced a cast of new people into the mix. The best for me was to include Naomi Harris (famous for portraying Calypso in Pirates of the Caribbean movie) who relived the role of the iconic Moneypenny.
Teh Tarik Rating : I'll give an easy 8 out of 10.

[Breaking the tradition with a new Q]
One of the highlights for me in the movie is the inclusion of so many previous Bond movie references. At one point I actually had a hard time trying to identify each and every one of them while squealing with delight. The best moment in the office were once when they made the British bulldog cameo (I want one!) and of course, the iconic Aston Martin DB5 which was the original Bond car.
As expected, I would recommend, especially the guys, to watch this because it really does celebrate what we know best about James Bond and what better time to do so with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the series. All in all I personally think they could do better with the plot but it was still a great movie to watch.
